Pre-Production

In this stage of production Fits&Starts can contribute with a strategy, copy and graphics as well as media coverage in form of social media pages and updates as well as website. For us it is as important to be part of a production in an early stage as it is for the production to hire actors, find locations, crew up and book equipment. Introducing Fits&Starts early on in the process will make the producer and director's life easier as they won't have to handle the creative process around marketing material and strategy in their busy period of production or post-production when thoughts often are concerning the creative processes as well as solving problems ad hoc and face tasks that can't wait. If you invite Fits&Starts into the pre-production process everyone will know which direction the film and the marketing for the film will take and a long-term strategy can be both planned and executed relatively flawless. 

Production

The on-set experience is indeed unique and depends on how well-planned pre-production has been, however as in any creative process that requires people, locations and and ideal weather conditions, production can be a very stressful process. For Fits&Starts it's more difficult to be invited in the production process because this is when producer and director are at their busiest and has very little time to read, watch or form an opinion on creative strategies concerning the film. The film is already in progress and valuable time that Fits&Starts would have had to create an audience that has a genuine interest in the film is lost. It turns into what could be perceived as a stressful situation for the filmmakers to desperately find an audience after the fact. With this said the work can still be done, successfully, however it requires more focus and hard work from production keys in order for the marketers to understand what is being sold. 

Post-production

It's still not too late to ask Fits&Starts to join your project - the challenge here is finding an audience that would be compelled with your project, because it already happened! We live in a world where old news is exactly that; old, and no one is interested in anything a day old let alone a month old. This leads to a problematic setting for marketing and PR, since a strategy usually is developed early on in a branding and/or strategy process, but now has to be thought of while in the last stage of the project. This doesn't mean it's not doable, it just means that the approach, tone and strategy will have to adapt to the situation and perhaps be increased to a narrower thinking, such as only using one strategy, one channel of information or even a live event.
